Trinidad Fundadores
The rarest brand in the world, the Trinidad is only produced in one size.
It is thought by some that Fidel Castro has them made to give as personal gifts
to
visiting heads of state. This superb quality, medium to full bodied cigar is
handmade at the El Laguito factory in Havana.
Cohiba Esplendido Churchill
Cohiba was the term used for a bunch of tobacco leaves roughly rolled
together to form something that we would call a cigar.
Bolivar Royal Corona
Named after Simon Bolivar, one of the great romantic figures of the 19th century,
who liberated much of South America from oppressive Spanish rule.
The flavour of the reasonably priced handmade cigar is full,
and they are therefore not recommended for the novice cigar smoker.
Romeo & Julieta Exibicion No. 4 Robusto
The attractive labeling on the cigar boxes depicts the famous balcony scene
from
Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet. The extremely large range of superior
quality cigars, both handmade and machine made, is medium in flavor.
Cohiba Siglo No. 2
The Cohiba brand was created in 1966 as Havana’s premier brand, for diplomatic
use only.
Only the most skilful cigar rollers in Cuba are allowed to make Cohibas and
to ensure a
perfect result every time, each Cohiba roller specializes in making just one
size.
Sancho Panza Bachiujer Petit Corona
This small range of superior quality, mild flavored, handmade
cigar has only been available in Spain until recently.
It is popular with some aficionados as a daytime cigar.
Montecristo No. 5 Midi
The brand is named after the novel by Alexander Dumas, “The Count of
Montecristo”,
and the boxes are decorated with an attractive fleur de lis and crossed sword.
Montecristo’s distinctive flavor has made it one of the most popular Havana
brands for over 20 years. It is the best selling Havana cigar.
El Rey Del Mundo Demitasse
El Rey Mundo, or King of the World. These popular, handmade cigars are
produced in the Romeo & Julieta factory in Havana, and the flavor of
this large range is light to medium.
Cohiba Esplendido
The Cohiba Esplendido is perfectly named. This is truly a splendid cigar to
smoke.
It has great richness and full tobacco flavours, yet it retains a great class
and finesse on the palate. A Churchill-sized cigar, measuring 7 inches long
by 47 ring gauge thick, it is called a “Julieta”
in factories by the workers, and remains one of the favorite smokes of the rollers.
Cohiba Robusto
The Cohiba Robusto is one of the hottest selling Cuban cigars.
No other offers such a burst of flavor in such a relatively small size.
The Robusto measures 5 inches long by 50 ring gauge thick.
Montecristo No. 2
There’s nothing quite like it. The Montecnsto No. 2, sometimes called
a torpedo or a piramide, represents the best in Cuban craftsmanship. It takes
years to master producing this tapered cigar, called a piramide by the rollers
themselves. Whatever you call it, it is a bombshell of a smoke,
packed with spicy, rich flavors that go on and on with each puff. The Montecristo
No. 2
measures 6 inches long and average about 52 ring gauge thick.
Cuaba Exclusivos
Produced by the Romeo Y Julieta factory in Cuba, this brand, launched in 1996,
is the latest Havana to hit the world’s cigar market. The Exclusivos is
the largest in the limited four size
range Cuaba offers, at under 6 inches long with a 46 ring gauge. Reminiscent
of vintage cigars,
it has a tapered end known as a “figuardo” a shape that was very
popular in the
nineteenth century. It is a mild to medium smoke of outstanding quality.
Cuaba Divinos
This, the smallest of the Cuaba range, is a stocky build at 4 inches with 43
ring gauge.
The Cuaba name derives from an old Taino Indian word for a type of bush,
which was used for lighting cigars at religious ceremonies as it burnt easily.
“Quemar como una Cuaba” – to burn like a Cuaba – an
expression still alive in Cuba today.
Saint Louis Rey Churchill
Created some 50 years ago by British importers Michael de Keyser and Nathan
Silverstone,
the brand has had many fans including singer Frank Sinatra and actor James Coburn.
This heavyweight medium cigar made at the Romeo Y Julieta factory is among the
finest Havanas available. The wrappers are dark, smooth and oily; and the flavor,
although full bodied, is very refined. The Churchill is a fine smoke and
slightly milder than the other signature Saint Louis Rey Regios.
