Private Art Collection
Art is an undeniable focal point of The Joule experience. Enter through the Main Street doors to see the mid-century mosaics or the Commerce Street lobby where you are greeted by Roger Hiorns' crystal-covered engine. Thought-provoking, carefully curated artwork surrounds you throughout the hotel's public and private spaces. The mosaics tell a slightly different story about art at The Joule, one with twists and turns of near destruction and an investment in preservation. More than 70 mosaics by California artist Millard Sheets were salvaged by hotel founder Tim Headington from a downtown construction project that would have otherwise resulted in their demise. Small and large-scale pieces will remain a constant in the ever-changing collection at The Joule.

Starting out in the late '70s as a single Hollywood Boulevard store, the contemporary designer boutique TRAFFIC LA is now one of the most celebrated retail stores among the Hollywood actors, musicians and stylists, as well as fashion lovers with rock sensibilities. The voyeuristic spirit of the chic edit is honed meticulously by owners Michael and Sara Moldovan. At The Joule, there are two distinct storefronts to explore on Main Street — the two-level Men's store is rich with, Alexander McQueen, BALMAIN Moschino, Vivienne Westwood, and Thom Browne (to name a few). The Women's boutique shares some of the same stellar brands as well as as highly sought-after collections such as Costume National, Rick Owens, Jil Sander, Isabel Marant and more.
