Dining service was not as good as on past tripsRECOMMENDED
YesFood was excellent but the service was not up to the standards that we’re used to on Seabourne. Simple things like getting a 2nd cup of coffee, having water glasses refilled should not be something that requires hoping to flag down a server. The service at Solis was especially disappointing (you really shouldn’t have to exchange plates as many of us did) given the fact that it is supposed to be the exclusive dining experience on the ship.

Excellent staff, ship size, stateroom/bathrooom size and amenities, excellent food, Sushi specialty dining was exceptional, self serve laundry was a plus too.CONS
While staff was excellent, cruise was the first after a 30 day crossing with no guests. Staff were still ironing out some kinks of working together as a crew. Nothing significantly major is this regard. Limited snack/dining later at night except for room service.RECOMMENDED
No<div>My first experience on Seabourn did not disappoint. The smaller luxury size cruise ship was perfect and made navigating the ship easy. It was.a joy to sail on a luxury level cruise where staff understood the guests and expectations. Being amongst like minded travelers made a huge difference when it came to meeting new people and enjoying nice conversation. Food was excellent, stateroom was a great size and the bathroom was the best I had experienced on a cruise with a large size and nice amenities. Bar options were vast with different places to drink, relax and mingle during the day and at night.</div> <div> </div> <div>The Asian itinerary was a huge draw and an easy way to see multiple Asian countries with ease. Vietnam and Halong Bay were standouts. And Seabourn's handling of necessary visa's made that easy and stressfree for us.</div> <div> </div> <div>Ease of embarkation at Singapore cruise port was a plus too. Great location from city hotels and convenient to Sonesta Island and tramway to enjoy activities before sailing.</div>

Cruise director was fantastic, food was better than other luxury cruise lines, overall staff was terrific, non-intrusive communication style (no speakers in cabins unless emergency, muster drill done on your own time, etc.), very simple embarkation and dis-embarkation - best everCONS
This particular itinerary never docked in port over night, was marketed to us as a 21 day itinerary, but was actually rolling 7 day cruises with folks embarking and disembarking in multiple ports, some of the excursions were not at all as described when booking, cabin was smaller than other luxury linesRECOMMENDED
YesOverall, I would sail on Seabourn again. The pros outweigh the cons. Even though there were a lot of folks on board that had sailed with Seabourn multiple times, overall everyone on board was super friendly and easy going.

Shore Excursions not always as advertised.RECOMMENDED
NoWith only 1 port change because of Weather, Seabourn gracefully changed our excursion to Split from Korcula. We had a V2 veranda stateroom which was very comfortable and found that on the port side of the ship, we had the best views and weather. We ate in most of the restaurants on board and loved the food. Sushi was the best and if you are looking to eat at Solis, please reserve early and come early enough to sit at their bar for their specialty cocktails. Our room was immaculately serviced twice a day as was our bar/ice set-up. We never had to ask for a refresh as they anticipated our needs. We had caviar service in our room and they delivered a bottle of champagne - a very nice touch. You have to ask about the Galley and Bridge tours as they are not advertised, but available.

NoSeabourn touts being a luxury line so for a first time sailor I was expecting an equivalent to Silversea and Regent. Although a lot of boxes were checked, they can use a little more polish. Teamwork in the dining room and Colonade was lacking. Serving staff although working very hard, seemed to run into each other not knowing what the other was doing. Was expecting butler service, Our room steward did a good job but would have liked the upgraded service. Food was Very good and the front desk staff were exceptional. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating.

All inclusive cruising with no surprisesCONS
The ship feels dated.RECOMMENDED
NoIt seems odd to say "this was my first time" after having already sailed on 75+ sea cruises and over 60 river cruises. Yet, it was our inaugural experience on Seabourn and it was not what we'd thought it would be like. "Is this your first Seabourn" was indeed a question we heard from many a guest, but instead of it being some kind of snobby inquisition as we'd (possibly) unfairly expected, it was more of a welcome. That relaxed style permeated our entire week onboard. From the friendly greetings of the crew to the international nature of the guests, the atmosphere on the Encore was exactly what you want on vacation. We enjoyed the "All inclusive" nature of the cruise with no nickel and diming: from caviar and champagne to cappuccinos to room service. We tried it all and found everything to be of an acceptable standard. We found the food variety and choice to be good, but it was only our visits for sushi and the dinner in Thomas Keller that left us with "wow" moments. Overall, we would do it again, but the one drawback was the ship which felt dated and a bit old fashioned. However, we also recognize that this is the charm for some of the hardcore Seabourn guests.
