SHIP OVERVIEW

Long Beach is fun, but it isn't known as a hotspot of Italian culture… yet! Carnival Firenze will debut, setting sail from this homeport towards south-of-the-border fun along Mexico's Pacific coast!
So, Long Beach, you're wondering what to expect from Fun Italian Style™? Grab your movie star sunglasses and throw on a scarf — just for style — as you make your entrance at Piazza Duomo, named for Florence's iconic domed cathedral. To get a taste for onboard flavor and flair, check out spots like the elegant three-course Michelangelo and Medici Restaurants, traditional Italian foods, cocktails, and more at Il Viaggio, plus Italian street food spot La Strada Grill™. You'll even find an Italian market, Il Mercato, featuring favorites like sauced-up meatballs, sandwiches inspired by Italy and beyond, plus sausages and salads. And since we're always authentic… most of the time, you can enjoy the fusion-y goodness of Mexican-Italian Tomodoro™ plus Guy's Burger Joint, now featuring classics and burgers with Italian twists."

Too crowded

PROS

Beautiful interior

CONS

Hard to get anything to eat

RECOMMENDED

No

The ship itself is beautiful but the crowds are not dispersed enough to enjoy its beauty. I found it hard to find something to eat. Everytime I attempted one eatery or another they were closed. I did not appreciate lemonade as the only juice available when apple juice, sweet tea and orange juice would have been good additions. There was only one ice cream station open when two stations were available making the line impossibly long. I was hungry everyday and I am not a big eater but I had to manage my schedule around a toddler and it seemed that his schedule did not correspond with Firenze’s schedule so we were both hungry.

PROS

Great food, clean ship, excellent staff

CONS

Odd ship layout, lackluster entertainment

RECOMMENDED

Yes

Carnival Italian Style isn’t for everyone. It seems to appeal to open minded travelers who would be willing to try something new. Carnival diehards probably will find this ship both odd and frustrating.

Good Value for Money

AUGUST

Star Star Star Star Star

PROS

Size, activities, cleanliness, food selection

CONS

Additional fees, debarkation/embarkation

RECOMMENDED

Yes

This is a lovely new ship, clean, fresh, and classy. The Italian theme is really nice. Lots to do on board. Warning to families, the height restrictions on the slides are weirdly high - 51 inches. Good food selection, some food better than others. The burger place is always yummy! Carnival needs to seriously work on its embark/debark process. It is absolute insanity as they overlap! Then forget about your embarkation window. I watched in shock as folks who were either early or late bypass the line of people who were there at the correct time. It is clear Carnival is focused on making the process work for them and not the customer. The nickel and diming on the ship is a bit much at times. The one that has us laughing was having to pay $3.50 for a tea bag at the afternoon tea (if you want something other than Lipton). This at an afternoon tea event. My final comment is that Carnival is absolutely a “fun” ship. If you are looking for relaxation or high sophistication, go elsewhere.
